The CubeAwards 2010 – FileMaker Developers of Excellence – the results
Winners of the annual FileMaker developer awards are announced
LONDON, UK – 17th November 2010 – FileMaker yesterday held the awards ceremony for its annual CubeAwards. Designed to acknowledge the achievements of software developers in the FileMaker Northern Region, the Cube Awards continue a long-standing tradition of rewarding innovation and recognising excellence for the use of FileMaker software by both commercial and in-house developers.
This year's ceremony was held at The Royal College of Physicians in London and was extremely well attended by developers who gathered to see who would be crowned the winners of 2010. Keynote speaker Dr Robert McNamee gave an interesting and entertaining talk about his experience of implementing FileMaker to manage the Electronic Enlightenment Project (EE) at the University of Oxford's Bodleian Libraries.
The CubeAwards 2010 were once again split into two categories, the "Best Public Sector Solution" and "Best Private Sector Solution", with the best entry in the opinion of the judges from these categories taking the "Winner of Winners" award. The scope of this year's awards was significantly increased with several new markets now eligible for entry, including Ireland, South Africa, Spain, Portugal and Iceland.
Award entries were judged by a panel made up of representatives from FileMaker and seasoned developers. The panel was also joined by the editor of technology publication IT Pro, Maggie Holland.
The winner from each category received a crystal Cube Award while the Winner of Winners walked away with an additional Cube Award and a 32GB iPad with Wi-Fi and 3G. The ceremony saw the following winners crowned:

In addition, the Winner of Winners award went to Winner – V&A Museum Collection Management System by Cordis Technologies. Museums are not often associated with elegance or sophisticated IT systems so the judges were very impressed by the standard and usability of this system.
Tony Speakman, Director FileMaker Northern Region, said, "The standard of this year's entries was extremely high, as was the volume of entries. Competition was very tight and the judging panel found it extremely hard to select a clear winner for any of the categories."
"It's fantastic to see the huge range of activities where FileMaker is making a difference, including, automotive, creative agencies, scientific organisations, educational establishments and commerce; it's a real testament to just how versatile FileMaker Pro really is."
